Instead, I purchased a cabin-style shed, and have it as my AVON area, and now have it "open" when I host yard sales, or for personal visitors on other days, by appointment.

My 17 year old grandson moved back in with us, Aug 5th, and our 16 year old granddaughter will be coming this weekend, so in my personal life, hubby and I have gone from empty nesters to will-be having 2 teenagers again. It's going to be fun, and probably quite an experience.

The other week, AVON hosted a "Come Home For The Holidays" event at the Marriott Hotel in Greenville and it gave us chance to see all the upcoming Christmas items. I am thrilled with what I saw, they have really gone for the glitz and fun side of Christmas. Lots of light up decor and animateds, I'm sure my customers will love them. And we have a preview brochure online now so that people can order ahead of the items appearing in the main campaign brochures.

My team has been growing as well, and I'm hoping one of my downline, Rachel, will make Unit Leader either in this campiagn or the next, she has been working so hard and I really hope to see her advance in title. I've been focused on trying to help her, but now also have some other people who are interested in working towards becoming Unit Leaders, so I want to get her settled and then work one-on-one with them too. It's always nice to see people achieve something when they have been working for it, and Rachel is a very good upline, very conscientious in helping HER people, so she deserves the recognition.

And if anyone is interested in joining my team, you can do so online from anywhere in the US, simply by going to www.startavon.com. It costs $20 and you put my referral code : rosemarydempsey (all one word, no spaces, and all lower case letters) in the box where it asks for referrer, you fill out the application, and submit it. It takes maybe 5 minutes. AVON sends your new kit to you but your access to your account online is within a few hours, and if you send me your new account and district number, I'll send you some free AVON to help you get started. I also have an email group on yahoo for support and where you can find all manner of resources to help your new career. With all the Christmas shoppers already beginning to buy, there's never been a better time to join and get your business jump started.

Once Angelica, my granddaughter, is here, we are planning on doing parties between now and Christmas, with her as my helper. Being physically disabled, I wasn't able to do them by myself, but I'm looking forward to doing them now.

And having my grandchildren here, this year we will be having a family celebration at Christmas, something hubby and I had gotten away from with it just being us and family so far away. I'm excited about that too. It'll be fun!

Well, let me leave you all for now - hope everyone has a wonderful day, God bless:)

Happy Monday

It's the first day of a new work week, and I'm finally perking up after a slow start this morning. It was chilly and I'd had a restless night so really wan't moving much at all this morning, got hubby fed and out the door with his packed lunch, and I went back to dreamland, cocooned in my comfy bed. Awakened rather rudely again around 8am with sirens blaring outside and my dogs doing their canine chorus accompaniment. I love hearing that, but not when I'm in the depths of a good dream:(

So, washed dishes, mentored one of my team for a while and helped them do a return, wrote a quick note on my thoughts on the current state of education, now watching a movie and blogging. Going to place all my ads later, fold laundry and hunt for some seed packets that I've mislaid, so that I can get on with some seed starting.

Have a wonderful day:)

It's not sunny in SC this morning ...

Today it's actually pretty chilly out there still, and kind of overcast somewhat. looks like the sun is trying to come out but it's definitely not very WARM!!!So glad I got some of my AVONing done yesterday while the sun was shining and it was nice. This poor thyroid of mine makes chilly days seem like mid-Winter, I'm still under the covers and freezing here, and I know it's REALLY not that cold out.

So, yesterday was good, I headed out and took my $2 box and stopped by Southern Eyecare to show off my wares.I sold some of my goodies to the ladies there, and dropped off their brochures too. Met Kelly's parents, and Amanda gave me an order there and then, so that was a bonus!

The I popped in next door to Check 'n' Go, where my friend Yvonne has just started her new job and had said I could leave books out in there ...WOOHOO! She used to work way out in Moonville ...with the price of gas, I'm so glad she's now so close!

When I got home, I spent a couple of hours posting my ads, for AVON and my other businesses, on the various groups I'm on, on Facebook, Yahoo and Google, so am hoping to be maybe seeing some new customers and team members ... always exciting!

My phone was flashing and I had a voicemail from a lady who had picked up one of my brochures at the eye clinic last week, where I went for a second opinion (sent by my regular eye doc who is really good!) on the Marcus Gunn pupil and the drusen in the one eye, he concurred with Dr Rumple that he was right and that I have both:( But now I may have a new customer from that visit. Always a good thing!

Since I plan on spending most of the day at home (have to leave later as have a chiropractor appointment this afternoon when hubby gets home) I plan on doing some more online advertising amid my chores. Plus will take my $2 box with me when I visit Dr Joe, you never know which of his patients might want some AVON bargains, plus I need to pop some more brochures out on his table.

Hubby doesn't work tomorrow, it's his Friday off, so we'll be switching off the alarm, and having a lie in until our bodies awaken naturally. It's his birthday on Saturday but I've the flea market to work, so I'm going to take him to TGIF for lunch tomorrow and hopefully find some other "nice" stuff for him.

Anywayz, hope you all have a wonderful day:)

Back to blogging

I am amazed ... it's been TWO YEARS since I blogged on here, where has the time gone and how did I stay away so long? A lot has been happening in those two years. Going to have to get back with the program! LOL:)

Well, right now I'm a strong Unit Leader and working on getting back my Advanced Unit Leader title. The economy did a number on more than a few people, and I had a spate of my team end up going out bad debt, including one of my Unit Leaders, and so I lost my AUL title. Things happen though, you dust yourself off and start back doing what you do. I have a strong team of about 50 people now below me, with one Unit Leader (Jenn Jarvis) who is not only an awesome AVON lady but an awesome friend too! I just need to find another Jenn Jarvis ... but people join AVON for their own reasons, not mine, and right now I don't have anyone with the interest or drive in doing what Jenn and I are doing. Most have just joined AVON to get their own stuff at a discount, or for free by virtue of their commissions paying for their own goodies ... and that's fine too.

I have a little shoppe at a local flea market, Peddler's Junktion, it's in Greer SC on Hwy 101, exit 60 off of I85. Thw Winter took it's toll but the last cuple of weekends have warmed up and customers are once again venturing out and looking for bargains. I did $2 table to go with my $1 tubs last week, and that went down ok. I brought a box of $2 items home to keep in my car for spontaneous sales when I'm visiting my regular customers.

I'm also excited as April 12th AVON launches a baby company - Tiny Tillia - and from March 1st thru 31st, proud mamas, grandmas and even dads and grandpas can submit pics of their favourite baby (up to 24 months) in the contest to find the newest Tiny Tillia baby. You'll be able to submit online from the 1st of March and will need the information in the comment below to put on the entry form. Good luck y'all :)

You'll submit the pics on the website: www.tinytillia.com
You'll need my name as your representative: Rosemary Dempsey, and my location: Greenville, SC
my email: iluvnubians831@aol.com
and my acct #: 06405628

My team and some other local AVON ladies are doing a series of launch events in local cities, and pairing with a wonderful organization www.littlestepssc.org to try to raise funds for them at the same time. I'm really excited:)

As always, I am actively recruiting for new reps (ALWAYS!!!!) and you can now sign up online and get started almost straightaway. You simply go to www.startavon.com and use my ref code: rosemarydempsey in the box where asked, fill out the enrolment form, pay $20 by credit or debit card, and you'll be able to start your business. AVON mails the kit directly to you within 3-5 business days. I then send my new folks out some AVON goodies to help them get started, so even if you aren't interested, please tell all your friends who might be.

And for my customers, I've already begun my "shop early for Easter" promotion ... every customer who places a $100 order for DIRECT delivery at my website: www.youravon.com/rosemarydempsey
will receive $20 in FREE AVON, of their choosing, sent to them FREE after their original paid order ships out. And since AVON isn't just cosmetics, fragrance and skin care, you can do all your Easter gift giving online and get more for your money. Just my way of showing I appreciate my customers.

Well, I hope you all have a wonderfully blessed day; it is so beautiful out there and I have places to go! Enjoy your day:)

January Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the first edition of my Beauty Newsletter, I hope it will be useful to you. They all work, I've used Avon SSS for many of these and this comes from another AVON lady:

PERSONAL USES

1. It's a bath oil and after shower moisturizer.
2. It can be used to remove makeup.
3. Great tanning oil (no sunscreen).
4. Hot oil treatment to soften cuticles.
5. Great massage oil for tired muscles.
6. Cleans off tape marks left from bandages on skin.
7. Cleans ink off the skin.
8. Insect repellent.
9. Helps relieve itching caused by dry skin.
10. Cleans oil and grease off of skin.
11. Painting something? Use SSS to remove paint from the hands. (Instead of turpentine).
12. It soothes light sunburn.
13. Rub hands with it before washing, it helps get them cleaner.
14. Rub on dry, cracked skin.... helps heal skin in 2-3 days.
15. Put 1-2 cap fills in liquid soap and use it for shaving legs and under arms. Helps razor glide and leaves skin feeling smooth.
16. Pour a little into your Foot Saver to help moisturize your feet while you relax them.
17. It removes chewing gum from hair, skin, and most nonporous surfaces.
18. Cleans permanent ink off stamps.
19. SSS Original Bath Oil works GREAT on Head Lice!!!!! Saturate head and let it set for 15 minutes. Then rinse under an outdoor faucet, but the lice were gone!!!!!!! Of course shampoo hair a couple of times to get the oil out, but the lice were gone and stayed gone!
20. It kills ants instantly.
21. Spray on skin to relieve dry itching skin. Helps skin retain it's elasticity.
22. Wash hair with shampoo and conditioner like always and after it dries.... Use about the size of a dime of SSS and rub it in your hair. It goes straight in and leaves hair as shiny as the ads on TV, not greasy at all, just soft and shiny.
23. Use bath oil towelettes -- cover windowsill with towelettes to keep ants out.
24. (LICE) Sometimes, using a bath oil, like Avon's SSS, will work to loosen the glue, which holds the nits to the hair. There is a product called Neon Nits, which when sprayed on the hair, will highlight the nits so you can see them to then snip them out with a small scissors.
25. This is to let you readers known about something that helped me for a mild case of psoriasis on my elbows. My internist recommended that I try Avon's SSS bath oil spray. I did and it eliminated the psoriasis on my elbows.
26. Bath use, fill bath with water and a little SSS, very relaxing and gets rid of dry skin.

HOUSEHOLD USES

27. Sponge it around doors, windows, and on screens to keep crawling bugs out.
28. It's a good wood cleaner and conditioner for natural wood.
29. It removes glue and gum left from price tags and labels from glass, metals, and most plastics.
30. It removes soap scum from shower doors and curtains, and bathroom and kitchen figures.
31. It removes lime and hard water deposits from fixtures, tile, shower doors and windows.
32. It's an oil lubricant for fitting pipe joints that won't slip together.
33. It cleans ink off most vinyl and painted surfaces.
34. It cleans heavy oil and grease from nonporous surfaces.
35. It takes fur off of clothing.
36. Rub on brass ornaments or figurines to help keep them from turning dark.
37. Removes crayon from appliances and most painted surfaces.
38. Wash cupboards with it mixed in your cleaning water to keep ants off and out of the cupboards.
39. Use it to discourage hornets from building their nests. After using a hornet killing spray, remove the nest and keep the area sprayed with SSS. They will not rebuild there.
40. Use it to clean leather; it will also keep it soft and supple.
41. Use it on your air conditioning screen (filter)--your incoming air will smell fresher and the filter is easier to clean. 42. Rub all over windowsills to keep ants out.
43. It cleans paintbrushes easily and leaves them soft as new.
44. It removes gum from carpets.
45. It removes scuffmarks from patent leather shoes.
46. Use it on running rails for sliding glass doors and windows.
47. It removes "ring around the collar".
48. It removes liquid nail (paneling glue).
49. Two glass bowls or glasses stuck together? Drizzle a little SSS down the sides and they'll come apart easily.
50. It removes candle wax from furniture, carpets and clothing.
51. Hummingbird Feeders: To deter bees try rubbing SSS on the feeder surface by the feeder ports.
52. Maggots too!! You squirted SSS in can and lid, then later flushed with soapy water, you shouldn't have any bugs in cans rest of summer!!!
53. It is a great furniture polish!
54. Ok, we have a new use for SSS bath oil. Put it in one of the bottle that you attach to your backyard hose and then spray down the back yard! Will cut down on ants, mosquitoes and other creepy crawlies.
55. People around the outskirts of Eureka and surrounding areas (and sometimes in town) spray it on their rose bushes to keep the deer from eating them, and at the cemeteries on the flowers they put out there for the same reason.
56. Kills spiders.
57. It cuts grease and cleans dirt from range hoods.
58. Add a capful to wash water of clothes...acts as a fabric softener and keeps the bugs off clothes.
59. Spray on orchids and other flowers for moisture and to keep bugs away.
60. Cleans baseball caps. Just spray on and rub with toothbrush.
61. SSS I used this recipe mix one part SSS and 2 parts water on my tomato plants and kept those ugly old tomato worms off. I think that adding the vinegar would be fine too and would be nice not to have to shake the spray bottle all the time. I sprayed my plants about every 2 or 3 days. Worked grand!! Too late for most this year, but file this for next.
62. SSS bath oil also does a great job cleaning cherry wood cabinets.
63. Put a little in your mopping water to help keep crawling bugs out. (Not too much or the floor gets slippery.)
64. Use to clean windows.
65. Removes crayon from most surfaces.
66. It's a great insect repellent (or you can use Bug Guard, the actual SSS repellent)
67. Screens can be lightly sprayed with Avon SSS to repel no-see-'ums and tiny gnats that otherwise might slip though the screens.
68. Another use for SSS is it will kill those pesky earwigs. Spray it on they don't return to life.
69. Also if you ever make candles, use clear wax and melt put SSS in it and harden works great for out side in the summer.
70. As a deodorizer, spray into air and let settle, kills those nasty pet orders.
71. Kids rooms if a child wets the bed, spray the bedding and sheets before washing and will give it a fresh clean smell.
ANIMAL USES

72. It's a great insect repellent for your pet. (As recommended in "Outdoor Life" and "Field and Stream")
73. Mix 5 parts water, 1 part SSS and mist on animals. Brushing it in makes their coats gleam and keeps insects off so the animals don't fidget in the show ring.
74. Mix in your pet's bath water. It takes the fleas off of them...and in between sprays them with the same mixture as in #2 to help keep them off.
75. Rub on your hands before and after working with your pets and farm animals. It will remove the strong smells.
76. Black Fly Spray For Dogs: Use as a spray or a dip. 1 cup SSS, 1/2 cup liquid detergent and 3 gallons of water.
77. For dogs dry skin mix 1 tablespoon of SSS per gallon of water and use as an after bath rinse. Or spritz your pet's coat once per week.
78. If your dog should get tar or asphalt on the pads of their feet rub on SSS and then wipe off.
79. Flea Bath: Use a flea and tick shampoo. Rinse, rinse, rinse so no soap residue is left. Follow with final rinse of 2 gallons of water mixed with flea dip and 1 capful of SSS. The SSS helps replace the oils lost in bathing and has the added benefit of repelling insects.
80. Flea Repellent: Avon's SSS Bath Oil. 1-1/2 ounces per gallon of water; used as a sponge-on dip (or as a spritz) has been tested and proven to have significant, but not complete, flea-repellent activity for a 6-day period. It should help those dry coats, too.
81. Does anyone use the Avon SSS bath oil on his or her chows? I have begun using it on Chancey and it has done wonders for her skin. Like, many chows, she has very dry and flaky skin, especially for being black. Since I started using that product, her dandruff and itchiness has improved tremendously and her hair has become shiny and smooth. It also serves as a great flea and tick protector. I use it about twice a month and I just spray it on her. I really like it.
82. I use the following on my horses and on my dogs when necessary. 1-cup Avon SSS bath oil 1-cup white vinegar 1-cup (or more) water 5 cc of essential oil of citronella (from the health food store NOT the type you burn to keep insects away that is available in a drug store) Mix in a spray bottle. Straight SSS works well for mosquito's too but really makes your dog greasy.
83. (Barns) Use of an inexpensive fly control spray or a diluted mix of Avon SSS in water can be sprayed on barn walls and floor to discourage insects from hanging around or to eliminate them before putting in the new bedding. As time permits, and if you can keep your goats out of the barn for a few hours - let the barn stand and air out before re-filling with bedding.
84. Rub on your hands before and after working with pets and farm animals, takes away pet odor.
85. Avon's SSS bath oil massaged directly into the skin of your Rottweiler acts not only as a successful repellant and makes their dogs smell good but helps prevent drying and itchy skin.
86. A natural way to help cats with flea problems and flea allergies is to rub Skin So Soft into the skin. Once a bug, always a bug. Fleas don't like it either! Spread the word!
87. Cats: SSS IS SAFE FOR FUR LICKING -------The SSS plus is safe as long as it is the one without sunscreen.
88. Don't overuse the SSS. I just use the lotion, and rub it into the skin, not more than every few days. My cat's sensitive and we're being careful. Common sense is the rule. Sprinkling Yeast on the cat food helps, too. My cat's fur is medium-length; he's part Persian, and he's doing fine, no ill effects from the SSS. You can check with your vet to be sure if it's okay...

USES FOR HORSES

89. SSS can be used as a hoof polish. This will put a nice shine to the hoof without drying it. The farrier's wife will appreciate this one!
90. SSS can be used as a muzzle, eye, and ear enhancer. Generally we used baby oil but it was so messy. I tried SSS and it works great and still helps keep bugs away.
91. I have a show mare that has allergies and also gets dry skin very easily so I started giving her baths in SSS. What I do is bathe her like normal and then I put a capful of SSS in a 5-gallon bucket of warm water and sponge this all over her. Her hair coat dries silky soft and she quits itching. Works for her.
92. The bug guard towelettes we had last summer work great on the horse's ears and around their eyes.
93. When I have to band (braid) their manes I use the Techniques Oil Sheen. It seems to help hold the braids a lot better and they don't try to rub them out.
94. The dry end serum works great in their tails as a detangler. Everything I have mentioned here I use faithfully on our show horses. The products are a lot cheaper than actual horse products. People see me using these products at the horse shows and start inquiring about them. I usually let them take my bottles and try them on their horses at the show, which usually ends up in a sale for me.

AUTOMOBILE USES

95. It removes tar spots from the car without damage to the paint.
96. Use it to clean vinyl dashboards, seats, and tops. It not only cleans, but also keeps it soft and helps to prevent any cracking.
97. After washing your car, use it as a tire dressing to keep them looking like new.
98. Put some on a small washcloth and leave in the car to help keep the air fresh and clean.
99. Wipe down vinyl surfaces inside your car. Cleans nicely and removes smoke odors left by cigarette smokers.
100. It gently cleans heavy grease and oil from skin and nonporous surfaces (great for Mechanic's Hands).
101. It removes tree sap.
102. Prior to traveling... rub SSS on headlights and grill. It makes insects and bugs easier to remove.
103. Shines vehicle tires
104. Open a towelette and use as an automotive air freshener.

*SSS bath oil is approved by the FDA/CDA only as a bath oil. Avon makes no claims of these uses, nor have they been verified by the FDA/CDA.

*************************************************************************************
Check out all the Skin So Soft products on sale on pages 155-161 of the Campaign 3 brochure. I did make Advanced Unit Leader by Christmas and my new goal is Executive Unit Leader by Christmas 2009. I have the focus to do that.

As part of my new strategy, I have to get this blogging in hand, and I want to use the blog as a way of helping people - customers to make choices and to get savings and helping others begin a career that will take them on the same path to realising their dreams as mine is.

I want to make it a useful blog, and I invite questions and comments, so if there's something you'd like to know about, just email me at RosesAVON4You@aol.com and I'll be happy to help.

So, to begin my plans for 2009, I'm going to start a newsletter, and I'll be putting in beauty tips and hints, and I'll also highlight "specials" that are on my website and offer freebies and such. I'm excited. If you'd like to be put on my mailing list, please email me. I'll be happy to send you a copy.

Working on a few things

We did the Freedom Weekend Aloft event and I got 4 new recruits, which was awesome. Really exciting. We worked hard, it was a long day but so rewarding. It was nice to grow my downline some more.

We are now working towards Mauldinfest, as we heard the other week that we have been successful in our application to take part in that. I'm hoping to replicate the successes of FWA. There will be 8 of us working the 2 day event and I'm excited about what we may achieve.

I'm also working on doing a major fundraiser for local military members assigned to Iraq recently, and for their families, through our local Marine unit. That is something I have high hopes for, as no matter what our personal feelings about the war, I feel we need to support the troops and this is just an amazing way. Basically, we will be approaching local companies to ask permission to request their employees purchase a specific pack of items which will actually be given to the Marines to ship to the people overseas - toiletries like shower gel and deodorant, foot care products, etc - but my team and I are also going to forego our commission and donate that to the Marines also, to be used as needed for the support of those in Iraq or unexpected needs of family still here. So they win twice! But we still get award points for the amount of sales which means we'll make it to PC quicker, so we still reap a benefit from it too. Everybody wins.

We are going to see how it goes and then maybe approach other branches of the military and ask if they would give us permission to do it for them also.

I'm well on my way to achieving my goal of being Advanced Unit Leader by Christmas and I'm so excited. I've been trying to expand my customer base, and at the same time, still recruiting new reps. Seems I am making deliveries over a greater area now, love the tax breaks for milage! It all helps!

Well, got to dash - have a delivery this morning ... and later, hubby and I are having massages. Oh I love my life!

Oh what a lovely day!

Today has been a wonderful AVON day.

For starters, I delivered a late order from C-9. Some of my customers aren’t very well off and this one lady buys a lot but sometimes can’t pay when it comes in, so I hold it a couple of weeks and then she pays me as soon as she has it. She called me last night and asked if I could bring it to her today, so I said “sure”. Took it in, chatted a while and handed out extra books. Satisfied customer, money back into my bank account!

I had some old books from a couple of campaigns ago, just out of date to where I couldn’t back order from them, so went tossing in this one subdivision fairly close to where I live. I printed out nice little letters explaining the books were out of date but that they could email or call me for a current brochure, samples or info and that I was looking for reps for my downline, helpers and new customers.

Then I’d received an email from a lady who used to sell but had ended up owing AVON, she’d paid it up and now wanted to sell again. She’d contacted someone else and they’d spoken to her a couple of times but never came through to sign her up. I wasn’t sure if maybe her account had gone to collections and maybe the other Rep had found out this girl couldn’t be a Rep again. So, I emailed her and told her I’d check into it, emailed my DM, who very nicely checked into it for me and came back and said she couldn’t find anything - thus nothing bad – about this girl. So I called her and now I’m signing her up tomorrow.

Feeling extremely happy about that, I was even happier when the phone rang, and it was a lady who’d picked up one of my books from the morning’s tossing. We chatted awhile, she wanted to know about signing up and all about selling AVON so I answered all her questions. I’m going to be appointing her now on Monday at 11am. Woohoo!

I am just so chuffed, it’s been a wonderful AVON day! And I’m fired up with it all.

Tomorrow I get my delivery, and I’m making 20 tote bags this time to take into businesses to try to build my customer base and maybe get some additional recruits. I’m putting a couple of brochures, samples, a recruiting flyer, and an introductory letter into each. My upline and I will be going out to deliver them next week.

I’m also making up 20 test drive kits to hand out to prospects, brochures, order book, introductory letter. I’m definitely working at building my downline and sales in C-11!

And so it begins ...

Welcome to my blog and tanks for stopping by; I'm kind of new to this so it may take me a few days to get this actually worked out so that you can check out my brochures online but I will be trying to figure it out.

I LOVE my AVON and I get silly about it. I'm 51, and years ago was considered a rebel by many. I wasn't very prissy back then and I'm not particularly prissy even now, I don't even wear make up. I've always loved what I call my smellies though, perfumes, lotions, talcs. I always wanted to smell nice. Over the years I've used an awful lot of AVON but I really have no idea why, all of a sudden, Iwanted to become an AVON lady myself.

I have so much fun with it though. It helps because I talk to anyone and everyone anyway, I end up in conversations at the grocery store all the while, so in a way that is an asset with the AVON. And I talk AVON all the while.

At first my hubby wasn't really enthralled but as my business has stared growing and he's seeing some of the benefits and my resilience bearing fruit, he's getting more into it. From the beginning he's taken books into work for me and collected/delivered orders there.

My goal is to make President's Club as soon as possible in this new AVON year, and also to add more people to my downline team and build my customer base. With a view to the latter, I have an online site for people who are not in my local area, for browsing offers and ordering for direct delivery. That's at www.youravon.com/rosemarydempsey and if you register on the site and then email me at RosesAVON4You@aol.com, I'll send you a link to a page to get your own personal beauty profile absolutely free. It's fun, and you can try out different looks and the face on the site changes according to your input.

Anyway, have a beautiful week. Feel free to email me with any questions you might have about AVON products.

Rose:)
